This video has two of my all time favorite songs- "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "What a Wonderful World." I chose these two songs because I think children see the world as a wonderful place, full of excitement and possibilities. Children also have dreams and wishes. As an early childhood educator, I think it is important to find the good in the world, and in each child, and encourage exploration. For those children who do not have strong support from family, I feel it is my job to teach and show them that someone cares, and that this world can be a wonderful place, and that they should dare to dream. In this course, I have learned so much from each of you. This journey has been enriched by each one of you, and I thank you for all your input and hard work! Thanks, Dr. Kien for your guidance and support! May each of you be blessed in your future endeavors.

Kristi,
ReplyDeleteThe Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies, too! I wanted to thank you, again, for the website for dyslexia. It was outstanding! Thanks to you, I have a preschool family who is much more educated on dyslexia. The fear of the father that his son would be dyslexic as he is, was replaced with the empowerment of knowledge because I shared the website you had provided during our discussion on disabilities. Looking forward to continuing this journey with you, Kristi!
You are welcome! I hope we have more classes together in our journey!

Kristi,
ReplyDeleteI love your quote. It is our task as educators to capture a kid’s hearts so that we can educate their minds. Kids need to feel support from their educators no matter if the support is at home or not. The songs you chose were quite adequate and befitting to child development. We should capitalize on capturing a child’s curiosity then give them thousands of opportunities to learn. Your posts were always thought provoking and informative. Thanks for sharing! I encourage you to continue with this field of study and share your knowledge and experiences with those of us who are willing to grow from what you have gained.
Thanks,
Yolonda
Thanks, Yolanda! I appreciate your comments! I wish you blessings as you continue this journey!
