This book by Laura Ingalls Wilder was my favorite book growing up. From the age of 5 my Mom began reading the Little House on the Prairie books to me. I was always interested in Laura's pioneer life and her stories of being a beginning teacher. Sometimes before the beginning of a school year I still go back and read this book. Even though I cannot literally be a pioneer as she was, I feel maybe I can pioneer new ways of thinking and make a difference in someone's life.
Kristi! I grew up with the Laura Ingalls Wilder books too! (Incidentally, like you, I also chose the Llama, Llama books--LOVE them to pieces!)
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the pioneer thing as well. I am a total pioneer at heart. I have been making butter from scratch to show my three year-old how, as well as canning. We also make our own applebutter, applesauce, homemade bread...I actually am considering getting some goats so we can milk them (apparently it's really healthy and delicious). Actually, I think the term now is "homesteading". Oh, I've even got my own backyard chickens! So proud of me! Maybe you CAN be a pioneer, or homesteader. Why not? :)
